Discover the 7 (lunch) breads of 2025
These are the 7 (lunch) breads you will want on your menu this summer. A lot is happening in hospitality when it comes to (lunch) breads and sandwiches, and at HANOS we follow these developments closely. We are happy to list seven special breads we have recently spotted, so your menu is fully up to date with the bread trends this summer.

Schiacciata
Essentially nothing more than an extra-crispy focaccia, and seen everywhere on the streets of Milan. Perfect for generous fillings.

Brioche bread
Japan’s favourite sandwich bread, known from the popular katsu sando with breaded chicken. Soft, rich and always a good choice.

New York-style bagels
Boiled in water to an authentic recipe (kettle-boiled), then baked and frozen immediately for optimum shelf life. Briefly toast or bake off in the oven (180°C) and they are ready. Delicious with cream cheese, but also great with smoked salmon, avocado or hummus.

Greek pitta
Greek cuisine is hot, and pitta is no exception. This versatile bread is ideal for topping, and generously at that.

Laugenecke
Made from buttery croissant dough with a lightly salted pretzel crust. Sweet, savoury, crunchy: its versatility makes it the sandwich of the year.

English muffin
A soft, airy roll that is perfect for warming in the toaster. Known as a breakfast classic, but also surprisingly good as a burger bun.

Flatbread
Flatbread is in. Easy to top and quick to serve. But who actually folds it: the chef or the guest?
