Petrus 2017 is a prestigious red wine from the Pomerol appellation in Bordeaux. The wine is made entirely from Merlot sourced from an 11.4-hectare vineyard with an exceptionally high content of iron-rich clay. The vines are on average more than 35 years old and produce grapes with concentration, depth, and refinement.
After a careful harvest at optimal ripeness, the grapes are optically sorted and processed with gentle extraction. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled concrete tanks, followed by 12 to 16 months of ageing in new oak barrels. The wine is characterized by an intense colour, a complex and powerful nose, an elegant structure, and rich fruit. In exceptional vintages, Petrus can age for more than 25 years. The combination of limited production, consistent quality, and exceptional terroir has given this wine an iconic status within Bordeaux.
